Apple's latest iPadOS and macOS betas finally add Universal Controls
Apple's latest developer beta for iPadOS and macOS Monterey includes Universal Controls, indicating that the long-awaited feature may finally be released sometime in the near future. Universal Controls, which Apple announced in June at WWDC 2021, is an impressive-looking feature that lets you use a Mac's keyboard and mouse with the iPad by holding the iPad next to the computer. Universal Controls seems to have been more ambitious than Apple expected, however, since it already missed its fall forecast, should now come out this spring, and wasn't even shown in beta until Thursday.
MacRumors reports that Universal Control is enabled by default if iPadOS 15.4 and macOS Monterey 12.3 beta are installed, and the publication also shared a screenshot showing what appears to be Universal Control with the three-option beta tag . are marked.
Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment on when iPadOS 15.4 and macOS Monterey 12.3 will be available to the public. The company also released the first iOS 15.4 beta on Thursday, and it lets you use Face ID while wearing a mask and adds new emoji.
