A broken Pixel Watch 3 can't be fixed

If your brand-new Pixel Watch 3 screen breaks, Google will not fix it; a Google representative told Android Authority that the new smartwatch is "replacement only." That means this is the third smartwatch in a row that Google will not repair.

That's a shame, especially when you consider how poorly the Pixel Watch's screen has fared in the last two reviews. If you purchased Google's device insurance program, Preferred Care, the cost of a replacement is $49 — but that program costs $89 for two years of coverage (or $60 per month for 4 months).

Google representative Erin Cizek confirmed to The Verge via email that those with a damaged Pixel Watch 3 can "contact the Google Pixel Watch customer support team to check on their replacement options."

If you haven't purchased a Preferred Care plan — which you must buy when you buy the Pixel Watch 3 or within 30 days of your purchase — your options are limited. Google likely offers a mail-in replacement at a discount, or you can try your luck at getting it repaired.
