Apple Releases 2TB And 3TB Time Capsule On June 21, 2011.

 

In addition to releasing Final Cut Pro, Motion 5 and Compressor 4, Apple on Tuesday quietly updated its AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule.
The Time Capsule now comes in 2TB and 3TB capacities, up from the previous 1TB and 2TB models. Like the older models, the new Time Capsules feature dual-band 802.11n wireless networking and support for Mac OS X’s Time Machine backup; ;  however, Apple has not detailed any other changes to it or the AirPort Extreme
On its website, Apple says that “New technologies in Time Capsule and refinements to Time Machine make backing up to Time Capsule using Snow Leopard up to 75 per cent faster than before.”

Apple is charging $299 for the 2TB Time Capsule and $499 for the 3TB Time Capsule.
Apple has also posted a new store page for the AirPort Extreme, although it is still unclear what improvements are included over the previous generation. Pricing remains at $179.
