Steam is the new STEM - IBM Canada will host a virtual national arts and STEM summer camp this coming week
IBM Canada is hosting a free virtual Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) summer camp for students entering classes 7-12 from July 19 to 23.
While this summer camp is organized by the IBM STEM for Girls program, it is open to both girls and boys, an IBM spokesperson told IT World Canada.
The company will organize fun and engaging online workshops over a five-day summer camp aimed at instilling confidence in the participating students and helping them expand their knowledge of the STEM fields.
Each day will devote a few hours in which IBM and other partners will facilitate interactive activities such as digital art, building chatbots, creative technical writing, cyber security and applied science experiments.
In addition, participants will have the chance to make new friendships across Canada, learn from STEAM experts across the country, participate in daily contests and win swag. Some interactive activities will require pre-registration and/or home supplies, the company noted.
More than three thousand students have registered for the camp. Morning activities for the eastern regions of Canada will repeat in the afternoon for the west. IBM Canada notes that participants will have the option to participate only in activities that interest them, and that many activities during the week will take place on a drop-in drop-out basis, allowing participants to join when they become available. permission is granted.
