Amazon warehouse manager pleads guilty to stealing $273K of computer parts




Charlotte, North Carolina, has pleaded guilty to mail fraud charges after theft and resale of goods from an Amazon warehouse, the Justice Department said in a news release. Between June 2020 and September 2021, Douglas Wright, Jr., an operations manager at Amazon's Charlotte warehouse, allegedly stole more than $273,000 worth of products to obtain computer parts such as internal hard drives and processors. He could face up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The sentencing date has not been set.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Amazon is expected to show record quarterly revenue of $137.73 billion (with a B) upon its February 3 earnings release. The company was widely criticized for its treatment of warehouse workers during the pandemic and faced congressional scrutiny after a tornado killed six people at one of its warehouses in December.
