Instagram will let you reset your recommendations
Instagram is testing a new feature that will let users completely refresh the content that's recommended to them on the platform. According to Meta's announcement, the feature to reset recommendations will "be rolled out globally soon," and can be used to clear algorithmic content currently appearing in Feed, Explore, and Reels.
This new feature will be available to users of all ages, including teen accounts. "We want to make sure everyone on Instagram — especially teens — has a safe, positive, age-appropriate experience and feels that their time spent on Instagram is valued," Meta said. "We want to give teens new ways to shape their Instagram experience so it continues to reflect their passions and interests as they grow."
According to Meta, recommendations can be cleared in "just a few taps," and "will begin to become personalized again over time" based on the accounts and content the user interacts with. During the reset, users will also be able to review which accounts they currently follow to decide whether they want to unfollow them, which will help shape the new recommendations.
