Tesla's first 500kW V4 Superchargers are coming next year
Tesla will launch fully equipped V4 Supercharger stations next year that will support charging at up to 500kW for EVs and up to 1.2MW for Tesla's commercial Semi trucks. Sites with the new V4 cabinets are going into permitting now. When they open next year, they will combine EV plug-in charging stalls with upgraded electronics that support faster charging on the Cybertruck and other manufacturers' EVs.
Tesla rolled out V4 stalls in Europe last year and at limited locations in the US. However, their power cabinets are limited to the capabilities of V3 Supercharger stations that support a maximum of 250kW of charging. The updated V4 stalls include new physical payment terminals, longer cords that can reach the charge ports of other manufacturers' EVs without vehicles blocking the extra spots, and CCS connectors (so you don't have to bring your own adapter.)
According to Tesla, the V4 cabinets can deploy quickly and supply power to up to 8 stalls each. This will be especially helpful for owners of some EVs from Porsche, Hyundai, Kia, and other companies, who currently get slow charging speeds on V3 Superchargers due to the lack of high voltage charging.
