Sony gives PS Plus members extra days after major PSN outage

Following a major PlayStation Network (PSN) outage that ended yesterday, Sony has automatically given PlayStation Plus subscribers five extra days of service, according to the official Ask PlayStation Support account on X.

"Network services have fully recovered from an operational issue," the company wrote in the post. "We apologize for the inconvenience and thank the community for their patience." Sony did not provide any further details.

The outage lasted nearly a full day, with the first signs of problems appearing around 6pm ET on Friday. Sony posted that service was restored just before 7pm ET on Saturday.

During the outage, players had problems logging into accounts, visiting the PlayStation Store, or launching games. For my colleague, Jay Peters, the outage meant he couldn't log into Fortnite or view his trophies, but his digital copy of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth launched normally.
